Chinese New Year

In Khmer it start Chinese New Year.
So I ate Khmer food with 3 Cambodian in A-301.
By a flow of a story, When I get the chocolate on Valentine's Day, I must give the chocolate to him.
Why do I distribute my chocolate?
I can't understand.
