ヤクロム湖(Yeak Laom)

バン・ルン(Bang Lung)から南東に5ｋｍにあるカルデラ湖である。約4000年前（他説もあり、詳しくは知らない。）の火山活動によりできた。周囲約2.5ｋｍ、最深部約50ｍもあり、水は澄んでいた。

湖へは、入場料を払って駐車場に車を止め、そこから歩いて階段を下りていくことになる。その前に、駐車場脇にある露店に昼食を持ってくるように頼んでおいた。

階段を下りて正面に、手摺の途切れている桟橋があり、そこから皆飛び込んで水遊びをしていた。
湖は、きれいな円弧を描いているのが見て取れ、水位の変化がないためか、木々の葉は湖面ぎりぎりまで生い茂っていた。水際に座っていると、とっても静かで湖面の蒼さなどからも、清涼感に包まれ、神秘的な雰囲気をかもし出していた。
この湖はタプーン族の聖域らしく、その管理自体も行っているらしい。


　空の青、湖の蒼、その間の深緑がとっても印象的であった。

入れ替わりにいろいろなグループが水遊びに来ていた。ただ、写真のグループの顔は、クメール族のものではなく、それよりも濃く深い顔立ちであった。

　この桟橋の左手すぐのところで食事を取った。

　大自然の中での食事は、大変、心地よかった。さらに、料理の味付けもよく、特に、チキンは香ばしく、よく走り回っているせいか、肉もよく引き締まっており、大変、結構であった。

Location:

Yeak Laom Commune is located 3-4 KM east of Ban Lung, the capital of Rattanakiri province. The center piece of the area is Yeak Laom Lake, a volcanic crater lake believe to have been created about 700,000 years ago. The present day lake is bout 800 meter across, more than 50 meters deep at the center and surround by the forest to the top of the crater rim.

History:

The indigenous inhabitants of the region, The Kmer Ler, have long recognized the lake as sacred place, home to the spirit of land, water and forest. These geosymbols' are between the celestial worlds populated by human. Yeak Laom Lake carries a rich mythology, evoking its genesis and history and describing the fabulous aquatic being who live there. It is said that no permanent building cam be established on its bank; just as surround forest can not be cut because they are the privilege home of spirit. Yeak Laom Lake is part of heritage of the Tampeun people and is symbol of Rattanakiri province for the Khmer and all high land people.
